In the fortress of the Malatestina family, known by the locals as Rocca Malatestina, visitors will be treated to a rare glimpse of artefacts found in recent excavations at the fortress. These objects give new insight into everyday life and customs at the fortress during the mid-14th century to the end of the 16th century. Featuring a number of ceramic pieces, including vases and carafes made by the great artists of the day, a number of sewing tools and miscellaneous objects, as well as a bronze seal dating back to the 1300s in fantastic condition. After viewing the artefacts, a walk around the fortress is a must. With the original buildings having been constructed in the 12th Century, the site is an impressive historic landmark. Previously used as a prison the architecture reflects this and also houses a supposedly haunted “corridor of ghosts” in the basement of the central block. A view from the ramparts should cap off a visit nicely, where views as far as the Adriatic can be enjoyed on a clear day.

January 9, 2012

Here some of the pictures taken during the Christmas cooking with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, in Westfield Stratford city.

A journey around Italy’s Emilia Romagna region together with Riccardo Giacomini patron chef at Tentazioni restaurant which serves pure Italian cuisine and contemporary Italian food in Southwark; Theo Randall Head chef at The InterContinental Park Lane and indisputable star of Saturday Kitchen at BBC; Simone Remoli patron of Pasta Remoli who discovered his passion of hand made fresh Italian pasta when he was less than 5 years old working in his grandmother’s country kitchen.

Our fellow passengers were Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium -under the protection of which only cheeses produced according to the rules of the Production Regulation may bear the distinctive Parmigiano Reggiano marks- and Bianca&Mora which has a great stand at Borough Market and showed us the cracking open of the wheels and offered a tasting of the king of all cheeses!

Apt Servizi was in charge of leading people to the discover of Emilia Romagna region home of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, with the aim of taking people on a journey of the most authentic experiences the region has to offer: from food to ski, from spa to golf, from beaches to the art cities were you can jump back to the Romans era, to the Renaissance or enjoy the modern art.
Emilia Romagna is the most popular leisure district in Italy – but most of it has yet to be discovered by theBrits!

There was alsoa a Twitter competition and people could take their chance to win a box of delicacies! Winner was Sebastien Powell from Bristol!

Jeff Gordinier of the New York Times meets a woman dusted with flour at Gradisca Restaurant.

“Very tiny,” Mr. Galeano said on a recent Wednesday night as he watched her in action. “Small. Delicate.” The size and shape of the tortellini should be comparable, he said, to “that famous part in the painting by Botticelli” — the navel, that is, of the goddess in “The Birth of Venus.”
