Comacchio, a poetic town built on canals (it is called Little Venice), is the starting point to discover the spectacular and magnificent Po Delta Park: kilometres and kilometres of tongues of brackish water penetrate into brush strokes of land. The itinerary can also be enjoyed by boat through rows of glasswort (water plant) and families of white herons and pink flamingos. By boat it is possible to get close to the “casoni”, the old fishing stations (only eight can still be seen out of the 150 original ones). The Po Delta is one of the European bird watching capitals. In Argenta, for example, great small wonders can be discovered at the Campotto natural sanctuary. This area is also very pleasant by bicycle: there are many hire points.
