There is no need to go to a tropical forest to see the most colourful and incredible butterflies in the world. You can see them at the Butterfly House in Milano Marittima (Ravenna) where a tropical environment for thousands of butterfly species has been created under an enormous 1,000 m2 greenhouse. The museum, unique in the world, attracts thousands of visitors. A tip: go in the morning at feeding time to watch them gently suck the small colourful sticks dipped in a sugary solution. The morning can be completed with a visit to the adjacent Insect Museum (they are alive!) and a guided tour in the century old pinewood in Cervia at the discovery of invertebrates.
