VIA EMILIA

VIA EMILIA

Also Italy has its Route 66: the via Emilia. It was built 2000 years ago by the Romans and runs from Piacenza to Rimini. Towns, villages, cultivated fields and a world full of life are lined up along this 300 km road. This was the first tourist road before the construction of modern motorways. Its last section in Rimini is marked by the Arch of Augustus. It is the oldest (27 BC) surviving Roman arch in the world.
